1. Who we are

Divya Kasturi Company is a dance company based in the UK. We deliver workshops and classes, tour and perform, and work in partnership with other arts organisations.

We follow UK data protection law. This includes the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, as updated by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.

2. Information we collect

We may collect your name, email address, and sometimes other details, when you:

- book a ticket for one of our events or performances

- sign up to our mailing list through our website or at an event

- sign up for a workshop or event through Facebook, email or social media

- fill in a paper form at one of our events

- apply for a job or contract with us

- take part in a survey about a project we are funded to deliver

- get in touch with us directly

3. Tickets and event bookings

We use ticketing tools such as Eventbrite to manage bookings. When you book a ticket, we collect your name and contact details to manage your booking — for example, to tell you if an event is cancelled.

If you tick a box to join our mailing list during booking, we will only add you if you say yes.

4. Mailing list and email updates

We send regular email updates about our projects, events and fundraising activities. We may also send updates about associated artists and companies we work with, but we will never share your details with them.

You must sign yourself up — we do not add people without their agreement. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. You can also email us at divyakasturico@gmail.com to be removed.

5. Social media and online sign-ups

Sometimes we manage sign-ups for events and workshops through Facebook or other social platforms. When you sign up this way, we collect your name and email address.

Because we use Facebook, Facebook also collects some information about you for its own purposes, such as adverts. You can read Facebook's own privacy information to find out more.

We will only add you to our mailing list if you say yes — signing up for an event does not automatically mean we'll send you other emails.

6. Workshops and paper forms

At some workshops or events we collect information on paper forms. This information is stored securely and used only for the purpose it was collected for.

7. Diversity information for funders

Sometimes a funder, like Arts Council England, asks us to show who took part in a project. We may ask you to fill in a short survey about things like:

- your address and postcode

- your name

- your age

- your gender or sexuality or gender reassignment

- your ethnicity

- whether you are disabled or neurodivergent

- the same questions for someone you care for

We only use this to create general statistics for funder reports. We do not usually share your individual answers with the funder. We keep this information separately and securely, and only for as long as we need it.

8. Job applications and contracts

If you apply for a job or a contract with us, we will keep your information for up to one year in case we want to follow up. If we employ you, we keep your employment file for six years after your employment ends.

9. Who we share information with

We use a small number of trusted services to help us run our work, including ticketing platforms such as Eventbrite, email tools for our mailing list, and Facebook for some event sign-ups.

These services only use your information to help us provide our services. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Some of these services store information outside the UK. When this happens, we make sure they protect your information properly, in line with UK rules.

10. Website and cookies

Our website uses cookies — small files stored on your device — to help the site work properly and to understand how it is used. We use cookies to:

- remember whether you have accepted cookies

- allow essential parts of the website to work

- collect anonymous information about how visitors use the site

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as well if you do.

11. How long we keep information

- Mailing list sign-ups: kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you

- Event bookings: kept only as long as needed to manage the booking

- Job applications: up to one year

- Employment records: six years after employment ends

- Funder survey information: kept only as long as needed for funder reporting

We do not keep your information for longer than we need it.

12. Your rights

You can ask us to:

- show you the information we hold about you

- correct anything that is wrong

- delete your information

- stop using your information in a certain way

- give you a copy of your information

- stop sending you marketing emails — at any time, no reason needed

13. How to complain

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to us.

- confirm we have received your complaint, within 30 days

- look into it

- tell you what we have found, as soon as we can

14. Keeping your information safe

We keep your information in password-protected systems. We do not store your card or payment details.

15. Changes to this policy

We check this policy regularly. If we change it, we will update the date at the top.
